Prominent figures from the Phuket Chamber of Commerce (PCC) have unveiled the ‘Phuket Privilege Card,’ a new service designed to streamline investments into the province. This initiative aims to assist members in navigating government interactions to establish fully legal operations on the island.

Phuket Chamber of Commerce Chairman Kongsak Khoopongsakorn explained that the Privilege Card will serve as a model for other regions by providing integrated, one-stop services for members. Through the card, foreign businessmen can receive advice and support for conducting trade and investing in Phuket, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.

The launch event, held at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Chao Fah Hotel in Wichit, was attended by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat and Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Sinlert Sukhum, indicating strong local government support for the initiative.

Thanusak Phungdet, former PCC Chairman and now Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuket Privilege Card Co Ltd, emphasized Phuket's robust economic growth and tourism potential, which attract both Thai and foreign businessmen. He noted the absence of a one-stop service center in the past, which the Privilege Card now aims to address by providing convenient and accurate services for the private sector.

The development of the Privilege Card began with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2023 by 10 private sector organizations, including the Phuket branches of the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Hotel Association Southern Chapter, the Phuket Tourist Association, and the Phuket Real Estate Business Association.

Benefits for Privilege Card members include trade and investment advice, legal counsel, and coordination with government agencies and local administrative bodies. Thanusak highlighted that the card will build confidence among foreign investors by ensuring fair and equal treatment by the government, facilitated by the Privilege Card service.
